Kalama Woman Mistakenly Arrested at Gunpoint

Joy Harris, owner of The Brits restaurant in downtown Longview, Washington, was mistakenly arrested by the police last month after a thief stole her license plates and replaced them with plates from a stolen car.

Ms. Harris claims that the officers drew their revolvers and pointed them at her before handcuffing her. Fortunately she was released ten minutes later. However, she says it has taken time for her to recover from the unnerving experience.

The Kalama Police Chief, Bruce Hall, said it's common for an officer to tell a person "you will be shot" if they don't follow directions when getting out of a car.

While I wasn't there, the way the officers handled this situation seems a bit extreme (as do the chief's remarks).
