Craig Trahan of Olympia was injured in a dramatic crash last Friday in Yelm. Apparently a felon led police on a car chase, took a hairpin turn, skidded and crashed into Mr. Trahan's motorcycle.

Mr. Trahan sustained a broken leg, broken ribs and facial lacerations.

Well, it's all over for the felon. But the possibility that his car had liability insurance should not be overlooked. Mr. Trahan should also tender a claim to his motorcycle insurer. Depending on the facts, there may also be a claim against the police department if the chase was ill-advised or conducted in an unsafe manner (apparently the chase ensued after the felon committed a traffic infraction).
